Beetroot

There must be something about Beetroot that draws me to it as today I have been working on a small piece for ATASDA Qld. Given the teal and deep pink wool fabric  we have been challenged to create something. So this is what I came up with , stitch and raw edge appliqué with the wools, vintage lace and wool and cotton 'threads'.
Then I recalled the other piece done in 2010. On orange wool blanket. I was eco dying the calico in beetroot leaves and onion skins and left it on the stove forgetting to turn off...so of course it burnt and I salvaged this piece. The burn holes have been highlighted with reverse appliqué to the orange backing.
